APPLICATION
PROCEDURES FOR THE
HENRY CLAY INTERNSHIP
The Kentucky Society of Washington
sponsors the Henry Clay Internship in
Public Policy. This competitive program
provides a six to eight-week summer
internship in Washington, D.C., for a
highly qualified rising junior or senior
from a Kentucky college or university.
The internship will be served in the
office of a member of the Kentucky
congressional delegation or an office of
the executive branch. The internship
includes a stipend of $3,000 to cover
living expenses while in Washington.
Applicants should possess 1) superior
academic achievements and intellectual
development; 2) effective oral and
written communications skills; 3)
capacity and willingness to undertake a
share of routine office work; 4) ability
to work well with others; 5) outstanding
trustworthiness and sound judgment; and
6) strong initiative.
To apply for the internship:
1. Complete the application form on this
website. You are encouraged to type the
application but hand-written
applications are accepted.
2. Obtain three references using the
reference form on the website. Two
references should be academic and the
third one should be from a non-academic
source.
3. Obtain a certified copy of your
college transcript.
4. Mail all of the above documents in
one complete package to:

5. The complete
package must be postmarked no later than
December 31, 2007.
6. Applicants selected for interviews
will be notified in order to interview
the third or fourth week in January.
